28 years of working in the Nova Scotia forestry industry has taught me (Adam) that diversity is important not only for the forest but also for your body and career. The over-reliance on specialized work can lead to dead ends. Market and funding changes, weather conditions, and the fast pace of modern society demand a diverse set of skills in order to remain economically viable. The goal of the West Dalhousie Forestry Crew is to have a fully trained and certified crew that can perform a wide range of tasks.
Storms and fires are becoming a modern reality and we will gain the skills and ability to be there when trees fall, and safely clean up wind-thrown trees and limbs.
Many property owners have concerns about wildfires and our forestry skills can be put to good use to make residential forestry interfaces less prone to fire.
The West Dalhousie Forestry Crew is positioned to meet all the present and future silviculture needs of southwestern Nova Scotia.
